Our teacher is Mrs Burrows and we have help from Mrs Hobson and Miss Jellie.
We hope you enjoy looking at our photos of all our hard work!
Halloween Fun!
Disco Fun!
Fancy Dress Fun
Together we were busy writing instructions for building a snowman.
After we had finished, we edited our instructions using our purple polishing pen.
We are all very pleased with our finished set of instructions. Now we need some snow so we can test them out!
Our new value is kindness.
We generated ideas to show others how we could be kind in our school. We are also going to nominate our friends for kindness certificates.
Then we had a chance to write our own set of instructions.
Together we created a list of words that we would need to help us with our writing.
Christmas Fun!
We had a recycling workshop.
We looked at toys that were made from recycled materials, we made our own plant pot and planted some seeds and we got to smell what a landfill site smells like. It was not nice!
We all got a toy that is made from recycled materials.
Mrs Burrows was given a pen that is made from cardboard.
In Year 2 we were learning about staying safe online.
We all agreed that we should not click on anything that we didn’t know, and that we should speak to a grown up if something pops up on the screen.
Smarties from our story taught us a song to help us remember.
We all had a chance to play with our teacher's toys.
These pupils are able to read over 300 words.
Ms Hardwick is very proud of them!
Our new value is 'Happiness'
So we had a 'Happy Day' with Mrs Armstrong's class.
We discussed what makes us happy. No one said Literacy or Numeracy work.
We had a fun and were happy by going to the library, had playtime inside and outside and we did some colouring, most of all we made new friends.
We read our story about telling the truth. We discussed how important it was to always be honest and tell the truth. We also agreed that it can be hard to tell the truth if you have done something wrong, but it always better to be honest.
We went on a Spring walk around our school grounds.
We took pictures on our iPads of the different signs of Spring and we put them into a Pic Collage.
We carried out an investigation to see if the height of the ramp will affect the distance that the car will travel.
We discussed how we should keep it a fair test.
We used tape measures to measure how far the car travelled.
We really wanted it to hit the back wall of the classroom.
Celebrating our successes!
Have you seen our new sensory room?
We used it as a stimulus for our Spring Poetry. We looked at different spring videos, and talked about what we could see and hear, we generated our ideas and together we have written our poem.
Then it was our turn, to turn our ideas into poetry.
Some pupils even used the dictionaries to spell their words correctly.
We used old materials to make some flowers.
We picked the materials and containers we wanted, worked out how to join them together, and then decorated them.
We even helped our friends when they needed it.
We were talking about the different ways we can keep our bodies healthy!
We were examining a strawberry plant!
We can't wait to eat the strawberries.
We have been reading the story of Jack and the Beanstalk.
We have been answering questions based on the text and using our retrieval skills to check our answers. We have also written the story.
We are now growing our own beanstalks to see how high they will grow! We also have magic beans.
After looking after our strawberry plant, the sun finally came out and made our strawberries go red. We were able to enjoy them in class, and there are still more to pick!
We went on our sponsored walk, we worked out that we would have walked as far as Dominoes if we were outside school.
We had a teddy bears picnic. This was organised by our kindness ambassadors. They read us and our teddies a story and then we had some tasty treats and played some games.
Thank you to Miss Montgomery and the kindness ambassadors. We had so much fun.
It’s volunteer week in Knockmore Primary School.
We have decided that we would like to volunteer to play with Year 3 during our play times.
We have also agreed to hold open the doors for all adults and pupils when they are walking through the building.
We are also going to volunteer to help our cleaner, Mrs McCord, and we will empty our rubbish bins, clean our tables and brush the floor.
